Israel’s Regional Development Ministry has in recent years set up a number of emergency security centers in Judea and Samaria (the so-called “West Bank”) to provide rescue services and assistance to residents of the area.
Israel National News reports that the ministry’s director-general, Orna Hozman-Bechor, visited several such centers this week and was pleased to hear that they are increasingly providing their services to Palestinian Arabs, as well as local Jews.
Hozman-Bechor noted that the centers are evidence that on a local level there can be cooperation and coexistence between Arabs and Jews.
A growing number of Israelis are starting to see that the perpetuation and escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the result of allowing the international community to turn it into a diplomatic spectacle.
Even many Palestinian Arabs will admit that life between local Arabs and Jews was much better before the introduction of Yasser Arafat’s PLO into the region. Left to their own devices, local Arabs and Jews found a way to live and work together, and some of them still do.
But once the PLO set up shop as the Palestinian Authority, the situation changed drastically for the worse. Palestinian children have now been so indoctrinated with a hateful outlook toward Israel and all Jews that there is little hope of regaining the coexistence that existed before.
