Americans long for Israeli airport security

With all the current fuss over the often rude, unaccommodating, invasive and sometimes simply unacceptable behavior of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at American airports, most Americans are longing for something different when they travel, and see Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport as a far better model.

Earlier this week, a poll conducted by the Washington Post and the ABC television network found that 70 percent of Americans want to adopt Israeli security measures at American airports.

American legislators have shot down the idea of learning from Israeli methods in the past because Israel makes use of profiling to boost security and make the process more efficient and less of an inconvenience for all passengers at its only international airport.

White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs tried to sidestep the issue on Monday when he told reporters that because “Israel has one international airport and we have 450 of them that makes all the difference.”
