Israeli checkpoint prevents attack on Tel Aviv

Israel’s much-maligned military checkpoints in Judea and Samaria (the so-called “West Bank”) do serve a purpose and are not, as claimed by supporters of the “Palestinian cause,” arbitrary inconveniences designed to make life difficult for the Palestinian Arabs.

On Tuesday, the worth of such checkpoints was demonstrated when soldiers stationed between the Samarian Palestinian-controlled town of Tulkarm and the Greater Tel Aviv area found a machine gun, ammunition, pipe bombs and other military gear in a Palestinian vehicle trying to enter Israel.

The four occupants of the vehicle were arrested and the bombs were destroyed in a controlled explosion.
