Israel honors Dutch Christian leader

Friday, January 21, 2011 |  Ryan Jones

The World Jewish Congress and the Christian Allies Caucus of the Israeli Knesset this week honored Dutch Christian leader Karl van Oordt, founder of Christians for Israel.

Prior to the award presentation, van Oordt met with Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin (Likud), who expressed his appreciation for all that work Christians for Israel has done in the past, is continuing to do today and will do in the future.

The award was presented by former government minister Rabbi Benny Elon in the presence of many Knesset members. Elon has worked tirelessly to strengthen ties between Israel and its Christian allies around the world, and has forged strong partnerships with ministries like Christians for Israel.

Mr. van Oordt was accompanied by a delegation of Christians for Israel board members and volunteers from Holland. Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands Binyamin Jacobs also accompanied van Oordt to Jerusalem.

One of the many projects initiated by Christians for Israel in recent years is the restoration of the historic Montefiore windmill in Jerusalem to serve as symbol of unity between Holland and Israel.
