Cabinet decides to remove 24 settlement outposts

Sunday, March 13, 2005 |
Israel's Cabinet has adopted an official report which found widespread government complicity in the establishment of 105 illegal settlement outposts in Judea and Samaria. The report said various ministries and institutions funneled millions of dollars to the outposts, effectively breaking the law with the authorization of senior officials. In response, the government announced that 24 outposts would be dismantled, though it didn’t say when. "Evacuation of the unauthorized outposts is part of Israel's commitments under the ‘roadmap,’" peace plan, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told the Cabinet. A ministerial committee was set up to discuss the removal of the outposts.
