Gaza pullout will severely strain army manpower

Sunday, March 13, 2005 |

Israel will deploy thousands more soldiers than originally planned to dismantle 21 Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip this summer. With more troops, the army plans to shorten the evacuation period from two months to one--giving settlers less time to disrupt the pullout. Some 27,000 police and soldiers will participate in the operation to evacuate 8,000 settlers.
