Davidi Hermelin is a member of the Young Likud faction within Israel's ruling Likud Party. To his surprise, Hermelin was recently featured on Al-Manar TV, the satellite television station of Lebanon's Hezbollah terrorist militia.
Hezbollah took interest in Hermelin after he and other Young Likud members voted for the inclusion of the Christian Lebanese delegation “Interest of Young Lebanese Forces” into the International Young Democrat Union (IYDU) at an conference in London.
Following that conference and his support for the Lebanese Christian delegation, Hermelin was accused by Hezbollah of seducing the Lebanese into collaborations with Israel.
Being in Hezbollah’s focus, Hermelin is trying to not draw too much attention now. The Christian Lebanese delegation might even see worse consequences. According to Hezbollah they broke the law by speaking to and sitting in the same room with someone from the "Zionist entity."
Despite the risks, Hermelin agreed to speak to Israel Today reporter Kerstin Braun about why he, as an Israeli, felt it was important to back Christian political activists.
