Son of top Israeli journalist converts to Christianity

Monday, June 13, 2011 |  Tsvi Sadan

Isaac (Tzachi) Ya’ari, 36, is the son of Ehud Ya’ari (pictured), a top Arab affairs analyst on Israel’s Channel 2 television. Such ancestry makes Tzachi a kind of celebrity as well.

He first came to the public eye in 2005 when he was charged with harassing TV anchor Miki Haimovich; but he could not stand trial on grounds of mental instability.

His second break into the public arena came this year, when the daily Ma’ariv published a story in its widely-read Friday edition on his conversion to Catholicism. A day before, Ma’ariv lured readers to the article with a tease: "Tzachi Ya’ari…found a new obsession: Jesus and the Church."

Conversion to Christianity is headline news in Israel.
