A number of prominent Israeli politicians, writers, musicians, journalists and intellectuals - including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - each chose a verse from the Scriptures which they felt was significant for the present time.

For religious and secular Israelis alike, the Bible is the gauge measuring the pulse of the nation.

Controversial American commentator Glenn Beck recently commented during a visit to Israel how he was astonished by how much God and the Bible featured in Israeli political discourse. In the short interviews below, you can get a real taste of that.
