Israel erupted in reportedly 'unprecedented' social protest this summer. But Israel has a long (read: biblical) history of social protest, even against God Himself. In that way, this summer's demonstrations were nothing new.
Meanwhile, Israel's Arab neighbors demonstrated their total lack of comprehension for how Israel (and any true democracy) operates when they nearly squealed with joy over the prospect of the social justice demonstrations provoking a bloody government crackdown.
It was a very telling summer all around, both for Israel and for the region.
