Dead Sea left out of New 7 Wonders of Nature

Monday, November 14, 2011 |  Aviel Schneider

To our astonishment, the Dead Sea was not included among the "New 7 Wonders of Nature" when the organization by the same name tallied the votes last Friday.

In Israel many had hoped to be included not only because of the prestige and honor of adding the Dead Sea to the New 7 Wonders of Nature, but also because of the economic boost such a win would bring.

The Dead Sea is dying. Over the past several years it has shrunk to a small lake which needs all the help it can get it. There are many plans formulated by the Israeli government to resurrect and save the Dead Sea, but the funds for these plans are missing.

The money that would have been invested by UNESCO had the Dead Sea been voted in as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature would have saved this special and one-of-a-kind landmark. Hope is all but lost.

We at Israel Today want to give you the opportunity to help the Dead Sea so it will be there for our grandchildren and their grandchildren. By purchasing Dead Sea products you can provide the funds needed to assist in rehabilitating the Dead Sea.
