A group of 40 world leaders and dignitaries attended a second day of meetings and ceremonies at Israel's new Holocaust museum here in Jerusalem. Among them was German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, who was deeply moved by the exhibits. “It is a place of deep shame for any German because the name of my country, Germany, is and will forever be inseparably linked to the Shoah, the ultimate crime against humanity,” Fischer said. “Shoah” is the Hebrew word for Holocaust. Speakers warned of rising anti-Semitism in Europe and vowed to fight it. “The reappearance of this phenomenon is something we cannot deny," said French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin. "The government that I head struggles very firmly and vehemently against all forms of the reappearance of anti-Semitism in France.”
