Palestinians name soccer tournament after terrorist killers

The Palestinian Authority this month continued to demonstrate its overt hatred for Israel and its failure to educate its population for peace by naming a local youth soccer tournament after three terrorist killers.

For the past three years, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' ruling Fatah faction has held a youth soccer tournament in the Samarian town of Nablus to close out the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

This year, the tournament was titled "The Martyrs Raed Al-Sarkaji, Anan Subh, Ghassan Abu Sharakh, and Haitham Al-Naana Ramadan Football Championship."

Al-Sarkaji, Anan Subh and Ghassan Abu Sharakh are known for a 2009 shooting attack on the roads of Samaria that killed Rabbi Meir Chai, a 45-year-old father of 7 and school teacher.

The terrorists ambushed Chai as he was driving home, but failed to seriously injure his wife and one of his children, who were traveling with him. Days later, Israeli troops tracked the terrorists to a hideout in Nablus and demanded their surrender. All three were killed in the ensuing gun battle.

The attack on Chai and his family was completely unprovoked and carried out against an unarmed target. And yet, Israel's "peace partners" in the Palestinian Authority felt it appropriate to not only name a youth sporting event after the killers, but to hold a moment of silence for the terrorists during the closing ceremony.

Palestinian Media Watch, which translated the Palestinian newspaper report on the tournament, has long documented the indoctrination of Palestinian youth to hate Israel and idolize those terrorists who risk their own lives to kill Jewish men, women and children.

Sadly, these clear examples of incitement are never mentioned by the mainstream media, which would no doubt provide extensive coverage of an Israeli government body ever doing something similar.
