According to a new study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Israel follows Canada as the second most highly educated population in the world.

In its annual "Education at a Glance" report for 2012, the OECD found that 46 percent of all Israelis between the ages of 25-64 have received a university degree or some other form of higher education. Only Canada ranked higher, with 51 percent of its population receiving a higher education.

The OECD worldwide average for higher education was only 30 percent.

Israel was also among the nine nations with a 90 percent-or-higher rate of high school graduation. The others were Finland, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Slovenia and the UK.
