Watch: Israel works to avoid collateral damage

Sunday, November 18, 2012 |  Ryan Jones

As Israel's response to the Hamas missile threat from Gaza intensifies, many Palestinians and their apologists around the world will try to paint a picture of a heartless Israeli army that is all but carpet-bombing Gaza into submission. Their claim is that Israel is purposely punishing all residents of Gaza for Hamas' aggression.

We already reported on the numerous steps Israel takes to avoid civilian casualties as it targets Hamas and other terrorist rocket cells.

And we cited very compelling statistics that show Israeli has succeeded far more than any other Western army in avoiding collateral damage.

Just to restate: It is common when fighting an enemy like Hamas that hides behind the civilian population for three civilians to be killed for every terrorist combatant killed. That is the ratio from war zones like Iraq and Afghanistan. Israel, however, has refined its methods to the point that less than one Gaza civilian is killed for every Hamas terrorist killed, despite Hamas' best efforts to put civilians in harm's way.

The following video shows the Israeli army carefully avoiding a mosque while targeting a missile launch site that was installed in the backyard of the Muslim place of worship.
