Palestinians condemn settlement expansion

The Palestinians said Israel’s plan to expand Ma’ale Adumim could torpedo efforts to revive the peace process. "Israel is responsible for any consequences resulting from this continuous violation of the roadmap,” said Palestinian Cabinet Minister Ghassan Khatib. “I don't think the Palestinian leadership and people can tolerate this…By expanding settlements in the West Bank, Israel gives the impression that it intends to exchange Gaza for a Greater Israel.” In fact, Israel is creating a Greater Jerusalem so the Palestinians won’t be able to claim the city as the future capital of an independent state.
