Israel to pull out of Tulkarem

Monday, March 21, 2005 |

Israel and the Palestinians have resolved a two-day deadlock that will enable the army to pull out of the town of Tulkarem in Samaria and hand control to the Palestinian Authority. Talks hit a snag over control of two villages in the area, which Israel said were bases for terrorists. The suicide bomber who blew up a Tel Aviv night club a month ago came from one of those villages. A similar dispute held up the Israeli pullout from Jericho, which finally took place last week. Tulkarem is more sensitive because its located near Israeli cities in the center of the country.
