Israeli Arab charged with assisting Palestinian bomber

Thursday, March 24, 2005 |

A 25-year-old Arab citizen of Israel has been indicted for driving a Palestinian suicide bomber to Tel Aviv a month ago, knowing that he planned to blow up a trendy nightclub. Five people were killed in the attack. A small but growing number of Israeli Arabs have been involved in Palestinian terrorism, and that has Israel worried. Arabs make up about 20 percent of the population, and Israeli Jews fear that the Arab minority could become a fifth column.
