Just hours after official bilateral peace talks resumed in Washington, Palestinian terrorist organizations operating out of the Gaza Strip fired a rocket into southern Israel.
The rocket struck an open area between communities Tuesday morning, causing no injuries or damage.
At about 10:50 AM, the "Red Alert" sirens began blaring in towns and villages in the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council. Shortly after, residents reported hearing a nearby explosion.
Benny, who lives near where the rocket landed, told Israel's Ynet news portal that "we know where we live. For weeks already we have been preparing for something coming from Gaza. Every time we talk about peace negotiations, they send us a 'present' from Gaza."
A neighbor named Ram added, "You need to remember that this is still the month of Ramadan, and all the terror groups want to demonstrate their strength and capabilities. We are aware of the reality in which we live, but we will not leave."
