College student? Netanyahu wants you to fight for Israel!

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has whole-heartedly endorsed a new Israeli government plan to more effectively recruit both Israeli and foreign pro-Israel organizations, and in particular university campus movements, to do hasbara, Hebrew for "explanation" or, in this case, "public diplomacy."

The new plan was put together by freshman Knesset Member Dov Lipman (Yesh Atid) and the director of Netanyahu's interactive media department, Danny Seaman.

"We need a unified effort to explain why we have a legal right to be here in Israel,” Lipman told the Jerusalem Post. “That is key to defeat the movements pushing to boycott, divest and sanction Israel."

Israel and its government institutions have been criticized in the past for responding too slowly on social media when it comes to national crises, especially in light of the lightning-fast media responses by the Jewish state's enemies.

By recruiting and training the pro-Israel public, both at home and abroad, to respond itself in a more effective and even official manner, Israel hopes to remedy this problem.

The plan should result in the rapid posting of stories on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube at such critical times. One focus is to quickly get out the information and angles that are systematically ignored by a mainstream international media that exercises a clear bias against the Jewish state.
