Monday, September 23, 2013 |  Israel Today Staff

The old train station in central Jerusalem dates back to the era of Ottoman rule. On September 26, 1882, the first train arrived from Jaffa. In 1998, the train station was abandoned as new forms of transportation finally outmoded the slow rail line that winds through the mountains of Israel's capital.

But life has returned to this iconic venue. Following fresh renovations, the Jerusalem train station is now home to restaurants, cafes and trendy shops. The complex is has been transformed into a kind of cultural center that is now attracting visitors from all over the world.

The following video gives a glimpse of the life and color that has returned to Jerusalem's train station.
