A test question given to applicants for entry-level jobs at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has provided black-and-white evidence that the UN does, in fact, prefer pro-Palestinian employees.
The test requires the applicant to write an essay providing his or her proposed method for dealing with a particular diplomatic incident regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The problem is that the question starts out by presuming all Palestinian charges of criminality against Israel are true. The wording does not appear to give the option for the applicant to view the Palestinian claims as false or erroneous.
Watchdog group UN Watch unveiled the test question. UN Watch Hillel Neuer said in response: "Because the exam obviously reflects the real-life working methods of the OHCHR, it also reveals a level of professional complicity in the bias of the UN’s political bodies that was not hitherto documented."
A UN spokesman replied, insisting that various different countries are used in the wording of these questions, and that the Israel-Palestinian question probably hadn't been presented to applicants more often than questions involving other nations.
However, given that the Human Rights Council, which the OHCHR oversees, annually passes an enormously exaggerated number of resolutions against Israel compared to the rest of the world, it was rather difficult to take the spokesman's remarks at face value.
