Israel Mourns Release of More Jailed Terrorists

Tuesday, December 31, 2013 |  Ryan Jones

Israel on Monday night released 26 more jailed Palestinian terrorists, the third such release carried out as part of the current US-brokered Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

As with the previous two releases, crowds of Israelis protested the move outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home and office in Jerusalem, insisting that it was both immoral and a detriment to Israel’s security to set free proven killers.

Among those released were:

  • Mohammed Afaneh, Ramadan Yakoub and Mahmoud Daagneh, who together brutally murdered Sarah Sharon, 37, a prostitute and mother of seven in 1993;
  • Ahmed Kamil, who was behind the murders of five Israelis and at least 50 Palestinians; and
  • Mahmoud Muamar and Ibrahim Salah, who participated in murders of Israel Prize winner Prof. Menachem Stern, Hasin Zayd, Hava Weisel and Andrew Rosenberg.

In fact, nearly every one of the 26 Palestinians set free was directly involved in the murder of Jews and Arabs suspected of helping the Jewish state. Years ago, Israel had a policy of never releasing prisoners with “blood on their hands.” American pressure has by now completely done away with that principle.

As expected, the release was cause for much celebration in the Palestinian-controlled territories, where those who kill Jews and any Arab suspected of collaborating with the Jews are hailed as heroes.

“Today is a day of joy for our people, our families and our prisoner heroes,” declared Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah. “We promise that this won’t be the last time that prisoners are released.”

Abbas insisted that he would never sign a final status peace agreement with Israel until every single jailed terrorist is freed.
