Settlers vow to resist

Wednesday, March 30, 2005 |

The budget is a blow to the settlers, who are promising mass resistance. “Everything that we're going to do is going to be civil disobedience, in the spirit of Martin Luther King,” American-born Anita Tucker of the Gaza settlement of Netzer Hazani told Israel Radio. The settlers plan to block roads around the country and bring hundreds of thousands of supporters to Gaza to thwart the pullout. The police and army don't have the resources for that kind of crowd control, so while the settlers are down, they're not out.
