Gaza Rockets Aimed at Southern Israel

Thursday, March 06, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff

Palestinian terrorists operating out of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday attempted several times to fire rockets at civilian targets in southern Israel.

One missile fired during the evening hours apparently failed to clear the security fence and landed inside Gaza. There were at least two more attempts to fire rockets into southern Israel around midnight, prompting local authorities in the Negev to sound the “Red Alert” sirens and send Israelis scrambling for their bomb shelters.

Earlier this week, the Israeli Air Force reported that it had attacked a Palestinian terror cell as it was in the final stages of preparation before launching a missile into southern Israel.

Early Wednesday morning, [Israeli naval commandoes raided a ship off the coast of Africa][1 after learning that it was transporting advanced medium-range missiles earmarked for Gaza’s Hamas rulers.

Had the missiles reached Gaza, they would have enabled Hamas and its allied terror groups to threaten much more of Israel than they currently can.
