Saturday, April 02, 2005 |

A Palestinian security chief resigned over the incident in Ramallah, saying too little was being done to halt armed chaos in the territories. "I cannot work under these conditions," said intelligence chief Tawfik Tirawi. He handed in his letter of resignation to Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas accepted the resignation and fired several other security chiefs for failing to halt lawlessness.
