At least 16 Gaza rockets hit Southern Israel Monday morning

Monday, June 30, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff

At around 7am, as residents and schoolchildren were going about their normal routines at the start of the day, a 10 rocket barrage was fired towards southern Israel communities after residents experience a siren-filled night.

A total of 16 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel overnight Sunday into early Monday morning. These attacks follow violent days in the south which have seen a rocket destroy an Israeli factory and IDF retaliatory attacks kill at least one terrorist in the process of preparing a rocket for firing at Israel.

The attacks marked more than two weeks of increasing rocket fire from Gaza since the beginning of Operation Brother's Keeper in the West Bank, to find and bring back the three missing Israeli teens – Eyal Yifrach, Gil-Ad Shaer and Naftali Frenkel.

Israel has been retaliating to the recent rocket fire emanating from Gaza with Israeli government officials stating that Israel will respond to every incident of terror from Gaza while holding Hamas responsible for every rocket attack.

Armored Corps brigades were instructed to prepare for the possibility of being transferred to the Gaza Division as security officials considered all options in response to rocket fire.
