Report: Police Arrest Jewish Suspects in Killing of Arab Youth

Six Jewish suspects were reportedly arrested on Sunday in connection with last week’s abduction and murder of a 16-year-old Arab boy from eastern Jerusalem.

Mohammad Abu Khdeir disappeared from his hometown of Shuafat on the outskirts of Jerusalem last Tuesday, a day after it was announced that the three abducted Jewish teens - Eyal Yifrah, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Frenkel - had been found dead.

On Wednesday, police found what turned out to be Abu Khdeir’s body burned beyond recognition in the Jerusalem Forest. Authorities now believe the Arab youngster was killed in an act of revenge for the slaying of Yifrah, Shaar and Frenkel.

Israelis were disturbed by the news that forensic examiners suspect Abu Khdeir was burned alive, and many have called for the perpetrators, Jewish or otherwise, to face the maximum penalty for their grotesque crime.

Member of Knesset Miri Regev (Likud) strongly condemned the murder. “Jews and Arabs alike - murder is murder. We must condemn it,” said Regev, while insisting that was no justification for the riots now spreading across the country as Arabs from Jerusalem to the Galilee seek their own revenge by attacking Jews.
