Palestinian Muslims Sack Temple Mount

Monday, July 28, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff

Buried amidst excessive coverage of the Gaza war were very brief reports of a very serious incident last Friday: the sacking of the Israeli police station atop Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

Following a particularly volatile prayer service, Muslim mobs began rioting and attacked the small Israeli police station that is meant to maintain order at the Temple Mount, usually by acquiescing to Muslim demands to prevent Jewish and Christian prayer at the holy site.

The small police force reportedly fled before the attackers, who then looted, ransacked and burned the police station. To complete their conquest, the mob planted a Palestinian flag atop the police station.

Arab rioting in Jerusalem and its environs has escalated significantly in recent weeks following the murder of a local Palestinian teenager. The fact that that murder was revenge for the earlier execution of three Jewish teens doesn’t seem to matter. Local Muslims are out for blood, and in their wake have left extensive property damage.
