Rabin’s grave desecrated

Monday, April 04, 2005 |

The grave of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was desecrated here in Jerusalem, when vandals wrote the words “Murderous Dog” in Hebrew on the headstone. The grave of Rabin’s wife Leah was also vandalized. Rabin was assassinated in 1995 by a religious Jew, who was outraged over his decision to hand Biblical territory to the Palestinians. Police suspect Jewish militants who oppose the government's plan to pullout of the Gaza Strip this summer are responsible for desecrating the graves. The vandalism is the latest incident in an increasingly bitter debate over the Gaza pullout.
