Hollywood celebrity launches peace mission

The world's top diplomats have tried to revive the Israeli-Palestinian peace process since the death of Yasser Arafat, and now they're joined by someone with different credentials--actor Richard Gere. He’s been meeting separately with Israeli and Palestinian leaders. “Look, you have two great peoples here and you're cousins and brothers and sisters, and I think deeply you know that,” Gere said. “And there's a great instinct and need on both sides of this conflict to find a peaceful solution.” Other celebrities have tried their hand at Mideast diplomacy including Jason Alexander and Jane Fonda. So Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan have a hard act to follow!
