Gaza settlers resigned to their fate

In another sign of weakening resistance among the Gaza settlers, they have appointed a team of lawyers to hammer out the details of their evacuation from the area this summer. The Gaza Regional Council chose a team of 100 lawyers and assessors to negotiate with the government about moving the settlers en masse to the nearby coastal area of Nitzanim inside Israel proper. Settlement leaders said they will continue to resist evacuation but need the lawyers to protect their interests should the pullout be implemented. Environmentalists are trying to prevent the move to Nitzanim because it’s the last stretch of undeveloped coastal property in Israel.
