Jerusalem Conference of Mayors

Friday, April 15, 2005 |

The Jerusalem Conference of Mayors is underway with 70 city leaders from around the world participating, including 12 from the US. Security concerns are always an issue in Israel, but Donald Plusquellic, the mayor of Akron, Ohio, isn't worried. “We walked last evening as I did the other times that I was here in Jerusalem, just as we would in any other city and felt very safe and secure,” Plusquellic told Israel TV. The mayors say they'll encourage people in their respective countries to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
