Sinai travel warning

Sunday, April 17, 2005 |
The Israeli government has warned its citizens against traveling to the Egyptian Sinai peninsula over the weeklong Passover holiday which begins this weekend. The government says the danger of a terrorist attack against Israelis is high. A triple bombing in Sinai last October killed 34 people at the Taba Hilton hotel and nearby resorts, including 13 Israelis. The new warning is ominous because a similar advisory issued before the October bombings was largely ignored. Israelis love the Red Sea coast in Sinai which offers great beaches and diving and low prices. A travel advisory has also been issued for neighboring Jordan.
