Sharon vows to keep settlement blocs

Thursday, April 21, 2005 |
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has vowed that Israel will hold on to big Jewish population centers in Judea and Samaria. "The major settlement blocs will be a part of Israel," Sharon told Israel Radio in an interview ahead of the Passover holiday that starts this weekend. "We are building 1,000 apartments in Betar Illit and hundreds of apartments in Ma’ale Adumim," Sharon said, referring to two of the largest settlements. Sharon's remarks come just 10 days after he met President Bush and received a stern rebuke that settlement expansion violates the "roadmap" peace plan.
