Israel and Palestinians coordinate Gaza pullout

Friday, April 22, 2005 |

After a series of high level meetings, Israeli and Palestinian officials are reporting progress on coordinating the Gaza pullout. The withdrawal was originally a unilateral step, but at the request of the US, Israel is coordinating the move with the Palestinian Authority. The Israeli army and Palestinian police are holding consultations to ensure a smooth transition and prevent attacks by Palestinian terrorists. There's talk of a possible summit between Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas after the Passover holiday to discuss the pullout and other issues.
