Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has slammed Ariel Sharon for his plan to pullout of the Gaza Strip this summer and dismantle 21 Jewish settlements there. Interviewed in the English language daily “Jerusalem Post,” Netanyahu charged that the pullout is a reward for terror. “Anything that persuades the Palestinians that we are being pushed by their superior will and their acts of terror to vacate one position after another emboldens terror and pushes peace away,” he said. Netanyahu said he didn't resign over the plan because it reflects the popular will of the nation. That's important to Netanyahu, who said he intends to run again for prime minister.
