New political scandal involves Madonna

Sunday, May 15, 2005 |

The Israeli Foreign Ministry and the ambassador to Washington are in a public spat over Madonna that is making headlines. The foreign minister's wife, Judy Shalom Nir-Moses, promised revenge after the ambassador's top aide failed to arrange a meeting between her and Madonna when the pop star visited Israel last year. The aide was recently dismissed, and now the ambassador, Danny Ayalon, is blaming Nir-Moses and demanding an investigation from the attorney general. "THE AMBASSADOR VS. JUDY," read the front-page headline in the “Ma’ariv” daily. The headline in Israel’s biggest newspaper “Yediot Ahronot” said: "THE SPAT."
