Settlers to step up civil disobedience campaign

Monday, May 16, 2005 |
Opponents of the Gaza pullout had a “dry-run” for their civil disobedience campaign today. At evening rush hour, protesters blocked roads in Jerusalem and other cities, clashed with police and caused major traffic jams. Among the new tactics--planting fake bombs in public places. Police discovered one fake bomb in a train station, with fake wires and leaflets saying “Jews do not expel Jews.” The aim is to disrupt life in the country and spread police so thin, that they will be unable to implement the Gaza withdrawal. The campaign will be intensified as the August 15th target date for beginning the pullout approaches.
