Former London Mayor Still Thinks Hitler Was a Zionist

Former London Mayor Ken Livingstone on Monday reiterated his belief that Adolf Hitler at first wanted to help the Jews return to the Holy Land, before later deciding to exterminate them.

Livingstone initially made the claim in a BBC interview in April. As a result, he was suspended from the British Labour Party and publicly harangued.

But, according to Livingstone in a fresh BBC interview this week, a lot of people agree with him.

“After I did the interview with you and I got suspended, I couldn’t walk down the street for people stopping me and saying ‘we know what you said is true – don’t give in to them,’” he insisted.

Livingstone maintained that he is in possession of firm evidence that “during the 1930s, Hitler collaborated with the Zionists and supported them because he believed that a solution to his problem – the Jews – was that they should all move to Palestine.”

Only later, according to Livingstone’s version of events, did Hitler decide the best solution was simply to round up and murder all the Jews.

When confronted during a parliament hearing, Livingstone was adamant that he had not called Hitler a Zionist, but merely claimed that the Nazi leader had initially collaborated with the Zionists.

However, as many have pointed out, the primary aim of Zionism is the return of the Jewish people to Zion, so if Hitler was supportive of that goal, then he was a Zionist, at least initially, and at least according to Livingstone.
