Gaza flare-up continues

Friday, May 20, 2005 |

Three Palestinian gunmen opened fire with assault rifles and anti-tank weapons at the Jewish settlement of Kfar Darom in the Gaza Strip. In response, the Israeli army says a tank fired a shell at a house where the terrorists were holed up, killing one of them. There were no Israeli casualties. Three Palestinian groups claimed responsibility: Hamas; the Al Aksa Martyrs Brigade, which is the military wing of Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' ruling Fatah movement; and the Popular Resistance Committees--a group of disgruntled terrorists who left other groups.
