Declining support for Gaza pullout

Friday, May 20, 2005 |

Israeli support for the Gaza pullout is declining. A poll by Tel Aviv university shows that 56 percent of Israelis support the withdrawal, a fall of six percent since February. Pollsters point to a "widespread assessment that...chaos will prevail in the Gaza Strip" after the pullout. "A majority believes that after the departure of Israeli forces from Gaza, attacks against Israel from the area such as rocket fire will intensify," the pollsters said in a statement. With missile shields going up around Israeli cities near Gaza, it's no wonder that people have their doubts.
