Abu Ghosh’s Arab restaurants are popular with Israeli Jews, and there are two churches in the town as well. One church marks the site where the Ark of the Covenant rested for a year before King David brought it up to Jerusalem. "I think that Abu Ghosh, as we leave Israel, can show us what it's like when the people of three religions that have so many holy sites here in the Holy Land indeed can live in peace with each other," Mrs. Bush said. After visiting the Church and listening to some chants by the Benedictine monks and nuns, the First Lady flew to Egypt.
