Hizbollah saber rattling

Thursday, May 26, 2005 |

The Islamic terrorist group Hizbollah in Lebanon is saber rattling against its arch enemy to the south--Israel. In a fiery speech, Hizbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said his group has 12,000 rockets that are poised to strike at the Jewish state. Now that Syria has withdrawn from Lebanon, Hizbollah is under international pressure to disarm. But Nasrallah said that won't happen. “I say any thought of disarming the resistance is madness,” he said. “If anyone thinks of disarming the resistance, we would fight them until martyrdom." The Israeli army confirms that Hizbollah has at least 10,000 rockets on the border, supplied by Syria and Iran. “We're fearful about the possibility of an escalation in the North, orchestrated by Hizbollah,” said Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev.
