Israel is launching a new campaign aimed at encouraging Jewish young people to immigrate to the country. The $280 million program targets people between 18 and 30 years old, who are brought to Israel for a year of study, volunteering and other programs. Some 4,000 Jews from this age group immigrated to Israel last year, according to the quasi-governmental Jewish Agency which is organizing the program. Next year, organizers hope to attract 8,000 young Jews, with the goal rising to 20,000 by 2009.
