Israel and the Palestinians to coordinate Gaza withdrawal

Thursday, June 09, 2005 |

Israel and the Palestinians have struck a deal to coordinate the pullout. Under the agreement, Palestinian security forces would deploy in Gaza and prevent attacks by terrorists as Israel withdraws. The agreement was reached at a meeting Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz and Palestinian Interior Minister Nasser Youssef. "They plan to tackle every detail of the withdrawal plan," said Tawfiq Abu-Khoussa, a spokesman for the Palestinian Interior Ministry. Mofaz and Youssef also discussed Israel's long-delayed handover of towns in Judea and Samaria to Palestinian control.
