Israel reacts angrily

Sunday, June 12, 2005 |

Israeli officials are furious over Al Kidwa’s remarks. "The refusal of the Palestinian Authority to disarm the terror groups drops a cluster bomb on the process that could lead to negotiations and quiet," Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told Israel Radio. "Very simply, either they will fight terrorism or we will fight terrorism." Officials say Israel will not begin peace talks until the Palestinians dismantle terrorist groups like Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Al Kidwa's remarks "place doubt on the Palestinian intention to enter the roadmap framework acceptable to the entire international community," said Deputy Defense Minister Ze’ev Boim.
