Israeli soldier killed in Gaza ambush

Sunday, June 19, 2005 |

Just as Rice was talking about a peaceful pullout from Gaza, Palestinian terrorists ambushed Israeli soldiers doing construction work along the Gaza-Egypt border. Two gunmen fired rifles and rocket propelled grenades, killing one soldier and wounding two others. Troops returned fire and killed one of the assailants. The Islamic Jihad group claimed responsibility for the attack, a blatant violation of the four-month-old cease-fire.
