Sharon demands that Palestinians end terror

Sunday, June 19, 2005 |
Prime Minister Sharon said the future of the peace process depends on the Palestinian Authority keeping its commitments under the roadmap. ”I believe that a smooth and successful implementation of the plan in coordination with the Palestinians will help energize the political process under the roadmap," Sharon said. "All this is dependent on the Palestinians stopping terror, violence and incitement, dismantling and disarming terror groups." Despite fierce opposition from the settlers and their supporters, Sharon said the pullout will be implemented. "This step is a very difficult one for Israel, very difficult,” he said. “But we will carry out the disengagement exactly in accordance with the resolutions of the government and the Knesset [parliament]."
