Israeli killed in Samaria ambush

Monday, June 20, 2005 |

Palestinian gunmen ambushed an Israeli car in Samaria, killing a Jewish settler in a hail of bullets. The army said four terrorists hiding on the side of the road carried out the attack, turning the van into a ball of flames. The driver was killed and a 16-year-old passenger slightly wounded. The gunmen escaped in a getaway car. The Islamic Jihad group claimed responsibility, in another blatant violation of the “cease-fire.” Yesterday, Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for killing a soldier in a Gaza ambush. Israel said it’s an indication that the Palestinian Authority has failed to keep its commitment to disarm terrorist groups.
